Please read and comply with these instructions prior to using your Fumpa
Fumpa is intended for use as a portable air compressor for pumping bicycle tyres up to 120psi.
Protect the unit from rain. Do not store outside.
Using a Fumpa needle valve (sold separately), Fumpa can be used to inflate sporting equipment such as footballs, netballs and basketballs.
Fumpa can also be used to inflate car and motorcycle tyres, but cannot inflate these tyres completely from flat.
Fumpa is not to be used to inflate large volume objects such as swimming pools, boats, beach balls and large inflatable toys.
The manufacturer is not responsible for damage due to incorrect operation.
Fumpa contains a lithium battery. Please dispose of Fumpa correctly.
Child safety - Fumpa is not to be used by children, unless supervised by an adult. Fumpa is not a toy.
Risk of fire – Do not subject Fumpa to temperatures exceeding 50oC. Do not leave Fumpa in a hot car.
Risk of electric shock – Never use Fumpa with wet hands. Check the USB charge cable for damage before use.
Risk of explosion – Do not use Fumpa near explosive or combustible gases, liquids or reactive dust particles (such as aluminium, magnesium or zinc).
When opening the box, the you find find the following (refer to the image below):
- 1 x Fumpa bike pump
- 1 x USB Type C cable
- 1 x Carry bag
- 1 x Small zip lock bag
Place all items inside the carry bag when the pump is not in use.
Charge Fumpa by connecting the supplied USB Type C cable to the USB Charge Port (see below). Connect the other end of the USB cable to a PC or USB wall charger (not supplied). The START/STOP button will glow red, indicating that Fumpa is connected to the charger. The button will glow red even when the pump is fully charged. Using a 5V, 2Amp supply, Fumpa should be recharged in 1 hour.
- Never leave your pump charging unattended!
- Do not operate the unit while it is connected to a charger. Doing so can damage the battery! Always disconnect the USB charge cable before use.
- Counterfeit wall chargers pose a fire risk and can damage your pump!
- Only charge your pump using wall chargers purchased from reputable consumer electronics stores!
- Ensure your charger is marked with at least one of these symbols:
Turning on the pump
Sliding the ON/OFF switch to the right will turn Fumpa on. The display will initially display “BAt”, followed by the charge of the internal battery (from 0-100). The display will then show the pressure of the object that it is connected to. Slide the switch to the OFF position turns the pump off.
Changing pressure units
A quick press of the button changes pressure units from psi, to kPa, to Bar, then back to psi. This is illustrated in the video below. The display will indicate a pressure unit change by flashing indicator lights towards the particular units marking to the right of the display. Changing pressure units is stored in Fumpa's memory. So (for example) if you select Bar as your pressure unit and you then turn the pump off, upon turning the pump back on you will find Bar as your default pressure unit.
Changing the nozzle to accept Presta and Dunlop valves
Fumpa has been designed to accept Presta, Schrader and Dunlop (Woods) valves:
When you receive your Fumpa the nozzle will be set up to accept Schrader valves. To accept Presta and Dunlop valves, unscrew the cap, remove the brass insert, flip the seal around and screw the cap back onto the nozzle:
Place the brass insert into the small zip lock bag when not in use, and keep in your carry bag:
Inflating a tyre
Connect Fumpa to a tyre by pushing Fumpa's nozzle onto the tyre's valve.
- Initially, the user may find that the seal inside Fumpa's nozzle feels tight around the valve. Over time, the seal will soften.
- Push the nozzle onto the valve nice and hard. Over time, this process will become easier.
Once connected to the tyre, inflate the tyre by pressing and holding Fumpa's push button. Once the required pressure is reached, release the button.
Below shows a video of Fumpa inflating a road bike tyre with Presta valve (pressure units in the video are psi). We recommend pumping your tyre by locating the tyre's valve near the top of the tyre and standing over the tyre as shown in the video. This method also works best for tubeless tyres as their is less chance in sealant getting into the pump.
The maximum pressure of Fumpa is 120psi (830kPa or 8.3Bar). As shown in the video, once this pressure is reached, Fumpa will automatically turn off.
Fumpa can be disconnected from the tyre’s valve by firmly pulling the nozzle away from the valve.
Fumpa is fitted with an internal temperature sensor. When a critical temperature is reached, the Fumpa will shut down the compressor and the display will flash repeatedly. The user will not be able to pump tyres again until Fumpa cools down.
During use Fumpa will become warm to touch. This is normal.
The temperature sensor will limit the number of tyres that can be inflated before the unit requires time to cool down.
Fumpa is powered via a rechargeable lithium battery. Fumpa includes battery protection circuitry to ensure safe operation of the battery. For a once-a-week user, the battery should last a number years.
The Fumpa comes complete with a twelve month warranty on all parts. We will repair possible faults free of charge within the warranty period, as long as the faults are caused by material defects or defective workmanship. - Fumpa won't turn on - Battery required charging
- Fumpa is warm to touch - This is normal. If the unit becomes very hot, turn the unit off and allow it to cool.
- Display flashes repeatedly - The unit needs time to cool down. Wait a few minutes for the unit to cool.
- Fumpa is making a noise like a siren - Turn the unit off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it back on.
- Air escapes from around the nozzle - A new seal inside the nozzle is required. Go to https://www.fumpapumps.eu for new seal sales.
